The best way to upgrade
 
I currently have 3.0.1 with 3 - 4 hacks including a 4images integration hack. however, i'm moving to a new web host. Should install the 3.0.4 and dump the data from my old host or install 3.0.1, dump then upgrade? Also, i've never upgraded before, do i need to rehack?

You have to re-hack, I'm pretty sure. Do what I am going to do: make a backup of your database, and test out an upgrade in another directory on your server. I'll have a lot of re-hacking to do.

the way to upgrade is to organize yourself before hand. everytime you modify a file you should create a folder saying "modifiedfile_for_xhack" and put all the files you modifed in there. then when ever you need to reupload files from the same version it is easy. It also helps show which hacks you have installed and what files you will have to edit. the best way to make a smooth upgrade is to be prepared before hand;)
