TrashCan

First i like to say hi here to everyone, kinda new here, and a new customer to VB :).

My request coming from a IPB background would be one it best features, a trashcan.

When you click delete on any post or thread or forum, it moves it into a hidden masked forum called trash, yep i know you can move them manually, but i rather have all posts deleted move to it instead. Staff tend to delete posts than move, and its good to have old posts that can be used one day as a ref.

I tried searching the forums, but not come up with much, apart from people asking the same thing with out any links to a file.

Hope you can help me out, this is the one thing i miss most coming to VB.

this is already done... this one is build differently from what you know of IPB's one...

(btw, the IPB guys took the idea from an old vB hack! - i know it, it is me that included it to IPB!)

You can hard code a link which will move the specified thread to a forum. I did that with vb2 to send threads to a spam forum but I haven't checked the syntax for vb3 yet.

Thx i give this a go on our test site, and see if it does what we need :)

Thanks loads all.

I have installed the mod there, and was wondering if any cleaver person could come up with a add on for this.

What i am really looking for, is when a user, or moderator uses the delete system already on the forum, it no longer deletes, it only moves it.

So basicly the delete looks the same, but runs this script instead.

I dont want people to know that the post is moved, so they think is deleted.

when a thread is deleted by a mod it is actually removed from the DB, just hidden. There is a manager somewhere in the mod Function or Administrative forums which alows you to view and manage them without having to browse and see the deletion notices
