Similar Threads?

How come vb.org doesnt have the simliar threads at the bottom of thread like vb.com does?

i find it very useful when searching for a particular thread.

um they may have considered it not needed or more maybe less efficent but im sure there is a good reason:)

I think it'd work nicely here :)

this site use to use it a few months ago but they just disabled it but i just wonder why.

Xenon 10-02-2004 11:06 AM

Well it was enabled when we upgraded to vb3, but after a few month we decided to disable it again, as it didn't work out that well.

The similar threads weren't as similar as wanted, and so it wasn't helpful most of the time, so to save the server from additional work it was disabled again.
and as you can see, for a long time noone really noticed, so it wasn't a real loss ;)

i noticed that it was gone a few months after the site was upgraded, but never thought why it would be gone. it helps me alot on vb.com so i really didnt know that vb.org wasnt working right for it. but now thx for the explaination. :)

hi Xenon, but i have checked the similar threads on vb.com and it works awesome there.
possibly they changed the algorithm ? why not make this a user option too ? and enable in users profile :)

As even i would like to have the similar threads visible.

Regards,

The main problem I have with the similar threads function is that for some reason people bring up threads from months and months ago, which may contain outdated information.
