fix Service Requests permissions

I have already contacted vB sales they told me to post here?

Unfortunately I can not post in the proper location Service Requests because I have not got a license yet. This is VERY bizarre because I like to pay someone to install vB. Maybe change that! I specifically got and email from vB sale to post there (some wires crossed?)

I suggest to contact vB (sales) or change Service Requests permissions!

This makes you and vB look very unprofessionalÂ… and with stuff like that I do question if vB is the right software for usÂ… eve is looking better by the minute :ermm:

Hi memyselfandi

These permissions are set like that to stop users from requesting modifications if they don't have a license. As they didn't buy a license, the chance is big that they won't pay for the modifications either.

In your case, why not buy vBulletin and then you can request an install. The installation can just as well be a week after the purchase...

Regarding unprofessionalism of vBulletin: don't judge that according to just this small problem. It could easily have been a misunderstanding on either side.

memyselfandi,

You are currently showing up as unlicensed. To be able to download hacks and/or receive support here at vBulletin.org, we ask you to please click here (vB-germany users click here) and enter your email address, to show us that you are licensed.

You will need to use your customer number and password (which will be in the email you got when you paid for your license) to access that page. Please note that your email is case sensitive.

Thank you.

Well no I will not get anything until I know it will work for us!
this is a VERY bizarre business model? I am a director of a 10 years in business company I can not support this kind of ventures. I need to know that we can get is what we need at a price that fits our budget.

Actually if anything this kind of approach only fuels unlicensed behavior?

We have use ubb from version 1 and just looking to possibly switch to vB because it may or may not have the extra features we need.

Post a thread in the pre-sales forum if you are intrested in a quote from freelance coders.

Hi memyselfandi,

Firstly welcome to vb.org! :)

We set the permissions like this because technically vb.org aims to help licensed vb owners hence the service requests forum is created for this purpose. Please note that your case is a very big exception and in most cases a service requester would be a licensed vbulletin owner.

But I understand that sometimes some people need such services (or at least to get a quote) BEFORE they purchase the vbulletin as their decision about the purchase might depend on the quote (or service) they'll get. In such cases, we make an exception for that poster and allow him to post his message there. If you like to get a quote for a vb hack or service, I think we can also make an exception for you too.

However please note that Jelsoft is already giving an vbulletin installation service so if you want to hire somebody just to install your vbulletin, you do not need anybody! ;) You can get this service while you are purchasing your vbulletin. But if you need more services of a coder and if your decision to buy the vbulletin depends on this, please let me know the details and I'll see what we can do to get your post moved there. :)

Thank you Logician,

I suggest to setup a new forum for people that get directed by vB sales

With most (install) jobs I would help in anyway I can.

Anyway here is what we need

Here is the list of work I like to contract
(2 appraisals please);

job one

- install (new) vB*
- change over from ubb.threads 6.4 to vB transfer/import all post and users*
- setup payment gateway - paid yearly subscription membership
- install/have a (members) weblog feature news/comments submission feature like pMachine (but not as sophisticated)
- help - setup Pay Pal shopping cart possibly a members only shop!

job two

- install (new) vB*
- install uCash & uShop
- install vBWAR (if available) or other CLAN mod/hack
- install/have a (members) weblog feature news/comments submission feature like pMachine (but not as sophisticated)

* vB.com would probably do that

ok I've moved your other thread into service requests forum. ;)

memyselfandi 09-29-2004 10:30 AM

thanks :)
please can you put/move the above job lists
the once from the other thread... are out of date...

and thanks again...
