alter vbulletins OR inivisionpowerboards passwords

hello,

i asked jerry about it, if it is possible to have ipb 2.0 final passwords working in vbulletin 3.0.3. he told me that he wont make any changes with the database of invision nor with the database of vbulletin. i am asking you if it is hard to alter any of the both databases so that my members wont need to get a new password by email. hopefully that can be done easily. ^_^ thanks in advance.

The table that holds the salt must be altere3d to hold more characters.

ah, ok. i also heard someone telling jerry that just something needs to be altered to fit 32bit. i myself am not a programmer so i am in need of professional help. probably this will be useful for many other people who convert from ipb2.0 to vb3.0.3. :)

Its possible, I'm thinking about doing it for my up-coming ipb import but have no decided if I want to store passwords that aren't native to vBulletin yet. If I do I will let you know (import supposed to happen this time next week)

wow, thank you. i'd be very thankful if you find a way and let me know how to do it. :)

Questions about modifying vBulletin's default behaviour and asking about modifications in general, should be posted in General vBulletin Questions. Please read the forum descriptions more carefully in future. I've moved your thread there for you :)

Thanks,
- Dean

ok, thanks for moving. :) brad.loo, i now know a couple of other vbulletin customers who would like to obtain the old passwords rather than having to get new ones created for each member. if i can anyhow support you in this case, please tell me how.
and to everyone else who got an idea how this problm can be solved, please write it in here. thank you. :)

We are not doing so on our forum because we don't wish to hack the board every upgrade. I have to import that database tonight (uploading vB3 via ftp now on dail up :( ).

However I still know how to do it and will post the hack sometime soon, I think there will be a big need for it as of today ;)
