how do i use my backup ??
 

ok, i have a question i have a backup for my forum saved on my computer and my forums keep on saying database error, i am going to use the backup, but how do i go about putting my backup on my server so my forum can run again ?

First off what error are you getting, it may be possible to sort it without restoring a database back-up.

The best way to restore a back-up is with ssh and the mysql command, if you are not familar with ssh (or telnet) or do not have access to it you can use this php script to restore your back-up.

This script will not timeout on large files, and should run on any server vBulletin will.

thanks but the link does not work and as far as the error goes, i am a complete newb to vbulletin and i tried to install some things yesterday, so its probably a number of things causing the problems.

Note that you need to back up the database. Backing up just the files doesn't preserve any of the forum data itself. Look in the Moving Servers section at http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/ .

Also, every time you encounter an error and post about it, always state exactly what the error is. Stating simply that one occured is usually not helpful. Thanks.
