the forum@bi11i.com

I've put quite a bit of work into this and have only recently discovered the vBulletin community (thanks to all who made those buttons, photoshop is over my head...)

the forum itself is at http://forum.bi11i.com

any input is appreciated, thanks!

why do i have to modify some images? i think they look pretty good, myself.

is there some way that i can export my forum style without taking all the added template info with it?

You don't HAVE to, but they really don't match with a dark theme.. (the folder, new/old posts icons, etc) Plus, if you get a lot of users like me.. who hate the default vB3 buttons with a passion, they might not join.
:ermm:

I would suggest changing the buttons to something more along the black/red you have going on there, but make them unique.. IE: don't just change the color of the default vB buttons (cause eve then, they're still very ugly IMO)

that's some funny stuff there, flippy. i can tell you this, if someone comes across my forum and decides not to join because of vb3 buttons - i didn't want them there to begin with.

i appreciate the input though - thanks for the suggestion.

you know the strangest thing happened to me over this thread. this 15 year old kid has been pounding me for two days about being an SMod. He just joins my forum and goes on and on about how good of a mod he is and how he's going to be an smod on this board and that. talking about how something called ffgon is the world's most popular forum, how he and his older brother made it that way, and now he's going to grace me with his presence.

here's a post of his - this is great:
Quote:

Hello members, as many of you may have known already, I am Flaux, and I just joined the forums yesterday. I have been looking for a good forum to go to, along with something to keep me buisy, and I believe that this place could really keep me buisy.

I had an interview with Bi11i, about me becoming a super moderator on the forums. We had some intriuging questions, in which he thought I answered really well. He thinks I have the needed intelligence to move this forum in a better direction. We were discussing some of the ups and downs of the forums, and we decided that with me being super moderator we would be able to move a step forward with the forums, and we think that this decision is best for the forums.

We are going to allow the forums to be open to all kinds of people at all ages instead of just looking at people thorugh the 21-30 age group. We believe that this can excell a activeness burst, and that is will allow more opinions to be expressed on discussions, and more people will want to join, as more people will post, and we will attract more members.
seems innocent enough... the bottom line is i can't have anyone under 18 on my board, there's too much language and drugspeak. when i let him know this as easy as i could put it -man, the language on this kid.

i'm sure more of you will run into him. he's going to be an s-mod on your board soon. be on the lookout for Flaux (bball_champ2010@msn.com & baseballstud_24010@hotmail.com) and be gentle with him. what a mouth on this guy...

That's not what I meant by that. Basically, the buttons don't stand out and appeal as anything unique.. they are the same buttons everyone see's on the majority of vBulletin powered boards..

Disagree with me if you will, but the more unique your forum is, the more members you will get. That's just the way it is.. it's easier for the member to remember your site too, if it stands out to them.

But dude, it's your site.. and you do seem to be running a decently successful forum there. I just thought I'd mention that. (Like I said in my first post, you don't HAVE to change them..)

oh come on now - advice from a guy with a forum open for a month? i respect your suggestion, but methinks you and I are in this sport for different reasons.

oh wait - i just put two and two together - SpamGrover is the 15 year old kid! Damnit - he totally mentioned final fantasy and now - now i know. SpamGrover. Someday you will be an SMOD. someday. I wish you the best.
