security for my website...
 
my site was hacked before, and ive a feeling somebody is having another go, i have alot of .htacesse around the site to try keep them out but i know it wont work 100%

can anybody provide me with any links to some other security options i could use, and also what do i need to do to fix security on vb 2.2.6

That is your problem. 2.2.6 is woefully old. Run at least the latest version of 2.3 and do not hack.

i dont hack

i was saying i think somebody is trying it again.... and how can i upgrade to the latest 2.3 without re-installing the whole thing

There are instructions in the manual at http://www.vbulletin.com/docs for upgrading.

Note that by "hack" I mean modify the code of your board.

your best idea is to upgrade to most recent version, the most compliant version if you want to upgrade to vB 3 is vB 2.2.9. anything before 2.2.9 is not compliant for an upgrade to vB 3. I think your best idea if not wanting to leave vB 2 is fully upgrade to most current version of vB 2(2.3.5 ?)and stay on top of patches,fixes, and versions as any vbulletin webmaster/mistress should;)

yeah i had VB3 before but i dont like it that much :-\ in my personal opinion its ugly, and alot of my members when i had it didnt like it either..... but yeah im still learning about the VB life lol so i've no idea about patches and fixes :-\ thats what i was asking for mainly, advice with patches and fixes

basic security things to do remove the install folder rename the admin and mod cp and only give link to admins disable html no active links no msn accounts or emails for staff people
