What chat system does vBulletin.org use? And is it possible i can get it onto my board?

They use IRC as best I remember..

The actual chat itself is hosted kindly by the guys over at devcore. If you're familiar with IRC you can connect to it using this link: irc://irc.devcore.co.uk/vborg

The applet itself is jIRC with a custom skin :)

Damnit I cant afford an IRC Server :(

you don't have to afford one. You can use any public server. Some of them allow your users to register their name, too.
