A few questions

Hello everybody.
I'm thinking of moving onto vBulletin software (now using XMB) and i have some questions.

- How much money do i have to pay per year?
- Is there any convertor (XMB --> vBulletin)?
- In case i can't complete the convertions, is there anybody who can help?

Thanks in advance for your time.
Regards, Global

1. If you buy a leased licence ($85) you will have to pay $85 every year to renew the licence. If you buy an owned licence ($160), you have the choice to pay $30 every year to gain access to the members area.

2. According to this thread, there is a XMB 1.9 Converter/Importer available

3. Depending on whether you would like to pay or not, there is always someone to help:)

1. Owned licence options sounds just great! :)
2. Now i only need to ugrade to 1.9 (currently use 1.8 SP3) and i'm done.
3. :)

Two more question (that's a bit more technical):
- I saw that the forum in here is pretty fast.
"Page generated in 0.09272 seconds with 10 queries". If you count also that many hacks are installed, it's a pretty fast time. Will mine be the same or similar to -let's say 0.3 secs- (I'm having 6 categories too, but kind of more forum -10 more) or the coders in here have made special modifications in the db and coding?

- When i pay for my licence, do i get any kind of receipt? I need to have some "paper" so i'll prove that i did pay those money to the accounts department

Yes, you'll get a receipt by email. :)

Vega, thanks for your answer.
One question left. Anyone?

I am not sure, but I don't think there are special optimizations necessary to get such times.
"Page generated in 0,11392 seconds with 13 queries" <-- Snapshot of a thread being displayed on my board, which also has several hacks/modifications installed.

The snapshot i wrote above, was taken when running the index.php, and not the showthread.php
For example, mine times when viewing the index.php (I use XMB as my software) are between 0.48.... to 0.62.... (20 queries). When viewing viewthread.php times are between 0.09... to 1.9...

vBulletin is quite fast out of the box, you may find that it will use more memory in some cases but this is due to the fact that it queries the datbase less then pior versions.

Optimize hacks are avaiable for a few area's of the code, you may choose to install these if your board shows a need for a speed boost. Rule of thumb is not to modify anything you don't need to modify, if you have a small to mid sized board most of the time speed tweaking won't be needed. Honestly it will depend on many factors the software begin just one of them.

Brad.loo, hello.
I'm having 6 categories and 35 forums (2 hidden). It's not a small forum.
Anyway. We will see what happens as soon as I install the software.
I want to say thanks in everyone who helped with my questions.
