Modification Requests VS Service Requests

Modification Requests VS Service Requests

we have a problem here... 50% of the requests made in the first forum have to be made in the second one...

maybe have a better title for each one, like:

Suggested Hacks (for free)
Paid Modifications Requests

..because many guys making Modification Requests are asking for amazing hacks that require professional codes, so paid ones... if we have a "for free", it really mean that the request is more a suggestion for guys that have time to spare,...

anyway, debate please ?!

I doubt your proposal will go through. Remember there are some people here who do make large mods out of the kindness of their heart :)

Xenon 07-21-2004 01:13 PM

Dean i think you missunderstood something (or i did ^^)

To me he's just asking to rename the forum, to make it more clear, that Paid request belong into service requests, and free requests in the other forum.

So just a terminologie thing, am i right?

Dean C 07-21-2004 01:23 PM

No I didn't misinterpret it I'm just saying the idea is not a good one (IMO of course ;)). Remember we have more than one service provided in the service requests forum. We have people asking for content writers, custom styles, maintenance engineers, paid modifications, logo designs etc. Limiting it to just paid modifications may not be a good idea. And I don't think it's out of order for a new member to come here and ask for a large modification. Remember these people generally don't code, so they don't know how easy/hard it is to make a modification. Also why should they come here and expect to have to pay for a modification. Even if it's large request, there are those who will help for free <-- That is the point I was trying to make in those all but 2 lines above ;)

Erm, i cannot see where he said that we should limit the service request forums just to modifications.

He just said, that he would make it more clear, that the normal request forum is just for free suggestions, and not the place to request big paid hacks.

Either that, and you missunderstood his post, or i missunderstood it ^^

Dean C 07-21-2004 02:16 PM

He suggested renaming it to "Paid Modifications Requests" Stefan ;)

Hmm, he said MAYBE and LIKE, so it was just to show what he meant

Ahh, no matter

hey, hopefully i'm back from small vacations...

i was suggesting to have more significant names for the forums, because even like Dean said, some requests CAN be for free, but most of the time, no coder will do them for free, and one or two reply later, we see the free request turned into a service for a paid job...

problem is that even when it's a 'free request', when someone is asking for a code, some coders would do the job, but not for free... so in my opinion, something like a Reverse Auction would be the best... someone makes a request, coders offer their quotes for the job to be done, and the requester accept or not the offers... anyway, a small setting in the permissions would do this: can read the replies of others... no!

anyway,, this is suggestions.. not complaints!

Dean C 07-22-2004 01:34 PM

Yes but why should we encourage our new users to pay for their modifications? They have every right to request it for free first :) If they can't get what they want, then it's up to them if they want to pay.

nexialys 07-22-2004 01:39 PM

yeah, but i'm not discussing the free stuff, it's the opposite...

anyway. we'll see
