n00b questions about templates

I was just looking at the tutorial for adding attachments to the quick reply, and it all seemed extremely easy until it said to;

What is the template? Is a template a file? I know this is probably an obvious answer... but I appreciate the time for an answer.

A template is HTML with conditions and variables which vBulletin will process to generate a page, every page consists of many templates.

To edit templates go to Admin Control Panel, Styles & Templates.

Thank you kindly for your quick reply. I have now found out how to modify an existing template...

EDIT: after a good bit of searching i found the answer to my second question. Thanks a lot!

Click Style Manager, this will show you all installed Styles.
Next to each style, there is a dropdown menu. Select "Add new template" and click Go.
