Temp Ban vb3
 

i relize vb3 has a built in one but i think it should be improved, should be able to state a reason why in the modcp (and admin cp what admins cant ban too)

also when the person comes to the forum they should see a page that says they are banned for "this amount" of time, and why, and who banned them


much like the temp ban hack for vb2 was

also should be able to ban in hours not just days

*sigh*... I posted some simple code a while back that gives a user an error page stating they are banned for X time, etc... (It doesn't give a reason because I didn't want to start modifying a lot of pages)...

I think that is one of the worst oversights on the part of the vB3 team... When you ban a person they just get a generic no permissions page, so I was getting flooded with emails asking wtf was going on... a specific ban page is almost a necessity...

very big oversight, i have the same problem i get emails asking "is the site down or something" ppl have no idea whats up and i dont know either so i have to go look, then i see they have been banned, but of course i have no idea why, so i got to find the mod and see what is going on

public reason is what he'll see if its selected and filled otherwise the generic reason will be displayed...

insanctus - yeah basically just having a field that you can enter the reason they are banned, but also when the banned user visits the forum instead of giving them the default vB3 "No Permissions" page, it gives them a page telling them they have been banned, for how long, and the reason why. (You can check out my code in the other thread above, I pretty much did everything except for the reason part.)

Private and public hmm, sure it is possible.

I will play with it a bit more later
