"Branding Free Option"

Hi, I'm considering purchasing a license to vbulletin. I noticed a $120.00 charge for the "Branding Free Option". I'm curious to know what this is all about. For example, is this http://www.mikeroweforums.com/forums/index.php considered the "Branding Free Option?"

What would this site be?

Also, i noticed an installation option. Is VB that difficult to install. I have a few months worth of experience in installing and modifying phpbb. will that be enough to install it?

I would hate to purchase a license then end up with a piece of software that doesn't work or is locked with one VB template.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Normally its best to ask such questions vBulletin.com :)

However the branding free option, is not like Mikerowforums.com

It allows you to remove the copyright text from the bottom

This bit can be removed, but it does not allow the software to be rebranded.

Thanks for the reply.

Is VB difficult to install? I've worked with phpbb a lot and was surprised to see an installation charge.

Is it as bad as it seems?

vBulletin is very easy to install. You download the ZIP, upload the appropriate contents, configure the config.php file to match your database information. You then point your browser to install/install.php and it takes your from there:)

ok, so just like phpbb almost. cool.

how difficult is it to customize the template?

sorry for all the newbie questions.

vBulletin (3 specifically) uses a very advanced, yet simple to use, template system. You simply click on the template you want to edit, make your changes and save.

You can open an admin demo at vBulletin.com if you would like to play with the template system first hand before purchase.

The vB templates are definently one of the easiest set to edit out of all the other BB systems I've tried. It also becomes quite easy to know what each template's functionality on the forum is, to rule out any confusion there. ^_^
