RSS news feed - normal posts split
 

What I need and I would imagin others is as follows.

I use "[vB 3.0.0] - NEW Modified RSS News Feed Hack" and when members click the new posts button they get pages and pages of new news. This has caused a problem in regards to looking for normal posts on the forum.

Can someone write a hack that does the following:

Click new posts.

Up pops the searched posts but this time because we are running the news feed hack it catagorises the posts onto 2 sections, one for the news and one for normal posts. The normal posts section always shows before the news section.

Also.........

Make this hack so that admin can turn it on or off in admin panel so its sectioned or or not sectioned (normal looking) and put an option to turn this search on or off in a members options.

This makes life a lot easier to find new posts and new news.

Can it be done.

actually it wouldn't be too hard i don't think. i don't have time to do this myself right now, BUT here is a hint towards the solution.

with the hack you are using right now, a new field is added to the 'vb3_thread' table called 'rss_feed'. only rss feeds from the hack will insert anything into this field which is '1'. so it would just need the new way to parse through new posts and the option to turn on and off in the adminCP.
