The Talent Show...
 

My school held a Talent Show, which they are supposedly going to have every year.

This year, my band, Vicar of Christ (V.O.C.), had entered, and played.

We were the only Rock/Grundge/Metal band there, and we were also the only people there who actually played something, rather then just dancing, just rapping, or just singing.

Now, I have to admit, some of the other performences were good, like the Break Dancers in the first act, that was good, as well as some other stuff but yeah this isn't about that.

We were 5th in line to perform, so we go up there and I'm nervous as hell.

I was playing the Bass and I wanted to move closer to my band instead of being all the way across the stage from them, but if I moved I would have seriously fallen on my ass.

We played Iron Man by Black Sabbath, and we simply blew them away. James' (the guitarist) solo was the best I had ever heard him do.

So, we play and get off stage, then a lot of stuff happened, I'm not going to tell you what so I'll just say it wasn't good.

Anyway, the results were coming, all 5 of us (we have a roadie, lol) were sitting on the edge of our seats waiting to hear the top 3.

3rd Place... not us...

2nd place... not us still...

1st place... still not us.

We had lost, after all of the practice we had endured for two weeks, we lost.

Everyone we talked to in the hallway said we deserved to win. We got the biggest applause after we were done, people in the hallway ran into the auditorium when we started playing.

Myself, my band, my family, Eric's Family, and everyone we talked to came to the conclusion that it was rigged.

The judges were 5 teachers, and the student council.

The student council were believed to have voted for their friends rather than the actual Talent that was shown.

The top 3 that won were the worst acts there.

Yet the performers were friends with those who were on Student Council.

So the moral is: Never participate in a School Talent Show where the judges are students, it's garaunteed to be rigged.

And the next day...

I didn't go to school the next day, but my drummer, Eric, did.

We did win something...

$20 and the Artistic Achievement Award.

Yup...

It's like students voting for an SGA president: it will always just be the popular person, not necessarily the best qualified for the job.

I forgot to mention that the loss affect's me none whatsoever. :)

And filburt, I totally agree.

I truthfully think that if any desicion is going to be made for anything of this sort than it is to be made by teachers...

You need non crupted members to vote on things ><

That sucks but screw it, at least you know you have a kick@ss band.
