Instant email for all forum posts

Clearly I'm a newbie. I'm not sure if I should be asking for a mod or a hack, but:

In 3.0 we need to enable users to subscribe to all posts (including any subsequent new threads) in a forum.

I've seen some discussion of this here, but was told at vb.com that to their knowledge this isn't available (or scheduled to become available) in 3.x.

Any suggestions?

If you can setup some type of system that will auto email everyone on a mailing list then its possible by just adding the mailing list address to each of the forum categorys :)

Clever suggestion, but requires too much work on our and/or our users' part.
