vB3 webmail?

Is there any mail scripts out there that will intergrate with vB3?

And another question, what is the downside of allowing emails for my members @mydomain?

Any mail client should work. The real issue is hacking up the IMAP server (if you're using IMAP). It took me awhile but I was able to successfully setup IMP with VB 3.0.0, Courier IMAP, and Postfix.

Two I know of right offhand are HiveMail and SocketMail. Unfortunately I haven't firsthand installed or used either of them so maybe someone else has a better perspective on that.

Hivemail.com , best webmail wether for vb boards or not.

I'm not sure I like how hivemail does things. If I understand it right it uses a catch all address and puts all messages into the database. For large sites this would case a serious performance hit.

Postfix, Qmail, Courier IMAP, POP3 all have built in support for using a MySQL database for configurtation options. The mail gets stored on disk in the well tested and supported mbox and Maildir formats. One only needs to modify the auth daemon for IMAP to allow it to use VB's passwords.

Just my 2 cents.

Err... Kevin? Everything you just suggested has no meaning whatsoever to anyone who isn't a server geek and wants to offer email signups off their site that integrate with VB.

From purely a third party non-user perspective running on gut feel, SocketMail looks like the better choice than HiveMail. Poor HM can't seem to get their head around making their system POP friendly, and if you look at their forum they seem to have a history of announcing forthcoming releases that never happen while just attracting trolls generally. Even so, there are some pretty big boards out there using it (both VB and IPB).

I personally like the vB Mail System (by filburt1) or the IMAP / POP CLient by Dr Erwin.

Of course SocketMail ? by far! www.bahamascope.net/mail just a preview...
Love that program. Added 600 members to my website in less than a week! Just the email section alone.
