Amazing DEV tool: Bookmarklets

In today's Tech Times newsletter from SitePoint, there was a small section about these things called bookmarklets, and a main article discussing them.

http://www.sitepoint.com/article/bookmarklets

They're bookmark links with embedded Javascript, and upon accessing them they render the current page with their useful functions.

Some of the ones I've seen are sort of just for fun, but the two given in the newletter are simply unbelievable. They'll make troubleshooting web design much easier.

Topographic Page Layout

Mouseover DOM inspector.

Go to the pages, and just add the bookmarketlet as a bookmarket. Older browsers might suffer from using them, but if you have the latest IE or Mozilla (w/javascript support), you should have no problem. ;)

Sorry for the double post, but this deserves the attention.

Look at this:

Amazing!! Words can't describe the extreme usefulness of this. GAH! That site also has many other productive web design bookmarklets (favelets as it calls them).

Although, some of them require Mozilla due to its greater DOM handling.

Just use firefox and the webdeveloper toolbar ;)

What web developer toolbar? There is a DOM inspector, but from what I see you can't actually change the CSS of the current page you're viewing and refresh it.

Bookmarklets, eh that's an... old feature now. ;)

There's an extension for firefox @ http://extensionroom.mozdev.org :)

Well this is interesting. I got some nice favelets today :) I just need a currency convertor one now ;)
