VB Setting Totally Screwed... little help please :)

Hi all, im having serious troubles with the settings system, hopefully someone can help.

I have created 3 new setting groups.

group1, group2 and group3

On upgrading from RC3 to Gold group2 vanishes. I have made sure that 'vBulletin Default' is set to 'no'.

Still, it refused to import.

In the Gold version when i go to vbulletin options, group1 and group3 appear prefectly, however there is an empty 'slot' where group2 ouught to be. When i try to view this slot (its just a blanc entry in the drop down list) it contains no settings.

I've dug around in the settinggroup table and group2 is there, however all entries in the setting table have vanished! What gives?

Havent hacked the admin section at all, really confused.

can you not export and re-import the settings manually?

I dont want to overwrite the new setting changes in vb3 gold.

Secondly, when i export the setting XML file, im not sure all the data for my settings are actually there :ermm: i.e. the descriptions, special input boxes for each setting etc

Its got to be an underlying problem.

Argh, holding everything up! :(

the only way i know to export non-vb settings would be via the database as opposed to the actual vbulletin script.

and if the settings are no-vb default then you wouldn't be able to overright as they wouldn't exist and if they did you wouldn't be in this predicament (to my best understanding of the situation)

run in debug mode while you do all of this investigating though, will make life so much easier.

OK this i s sereious :(

this "blank group" the settings group is still there but the actual settings have been deleted, the groupsettings are also possibly still there a s well.

You will need to put your board into debug mode to fix the problem either
1) delete the settingsgroup and start from scratch.
2) If you have (or can build) a settings .xml for the missing group ... download the current settings .xml add the new setting in the downloaded file then upload the new edited file with the added group.

I had 2 groups of settings dissapear when i upgraded to gold, i lost the jukebox and members choice settings, i used the second method to fix the problem .....

hey trafix, thanks for the reply.

Argh this is very annoying, especially for the future if i come to upgrade and my settings vanish once more :(

Cheers
