Does this hack exist here? *Please help*

I've seen this hack on a number of boards...but I'm unsure if it has been made public. I'm looking for it to work for vb3.

It is a Profile/Postbit hack I believe. It allows the member to select (in their USERCP - assuming Profile, but not certain) from a set of identity/representative options that would then show up in their postbit as a small icon (which depended upon what they choose to represent them).

Example: In a religious forum...someone could choose Christian, and a small cross would appear in their postbit. If they chose Jewish, a Star of David, etc...

This could work for anything that represented them of course.

Is anyone familiar w/ a hack like this? This is not the award hack where the admin chooses an icon/award for the member. This is where the member choose X to represent them and it is displayed as an icon.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

If this is for vB3, it could be easily done with a new profile fileld. ;)

yes, you should take a look at your ACP in custom Profile field, it's not too hard with the inline help so just do it yourself ^^

Yes, it's for vb...and I'm familiar w/ creating new profile fields...but I'm needing this to display an icon in the postbit to reflect this field. I don't think vb3 supports this by default does it?

*edit*

I posted the problem more accurately here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...376#post494376

Did you try putting <img> tags as profile field options? ;)

(I'm assuming this is the solution. I haven't explored vB3's profile system yet, but something like that worked in vB2 IIRC...)

Where did the thread go that is linked above? I needed to reply to Boofo in it about the code that was posted.

I closed it because I thought it was answered. Sorry. :(

No problem, pm me. ;)

Well, I was just going to let you know that the code we discussed worked perfectly. It allows for any graphics to be inserted that way. It seems most efficient.

Boofo 04-03-2004 04:07 PM

I guess I didn't close that thread. Do you mean this one?

Great! Glad you got it working. Glad to be of help. ;)
