Unable to export
 

I have had to change hosts as I keep going over the 40g bandwidth, I am trying to move the database but am unable, I thought at first it was too big, but I started off by removing all images, smilies, avatars, it made no difference to the size in phpmyadmin.

So I pruned to posts back so I now only have threads from the past 365 days, went back to phpmyadmin and it is still 58.3MB with posts not going down at all standing at 33.6mb, each time I try to export I get the error message below, PLEASE can anyone help.

Do you have SSH access to the server? Its much easier and faster to do a reliable backup via the command line.

Yes was all going well via SSH till asked for password, phoned 1&1 Internet and they said, we don't support it used phpmyadmin but would not help any further. No idea why 1&1 offer SSH when they will not support, supose that another issue and will be away away from them as soon as I can move the database.

Sound odd, give this a shot in an SSH window:

Replace USERNAME (note the lack of space after the -u) with the username you have entered in your vB config.php and do the same for DB_NAME with your database name, when it asks for a password enter the one thats in config.php.

Is the servername in config.php localhost? If not thats probably why it doesn't work.

Not its not set to loaclhost, does that mean I will just have to beg 1&1, they sounded as if they didn't care less this afternoon.

Who would have set the SSH password 1&1?

If the value isn't localhost then its probably because the server with the database is different to the server with your website and SSH access.

vB has a built in backup option to generate a DB backup, try using that, but make sure you keep your database intact as sometimes the backups it produces are not 100% reliable.

In vB3 its under Import & Maintenance in the ACP menu, and in vB 2 (IIRC) its somewhere near the bottom.

Sorry have tried that as well and just times out.

Do both options for it time out? There should be an option to download it, or backup to the server. If they both time out as a last and unpractical resort you can try downloading a table at a time via vB's ACP (it lists each table and if you want to back it up or not).

They all time can do each individualy except the posts and they time out, time to beg top 1&1 I think.
