is there a quick way to search for hacks that don't require you to run queiries on the database via phpmysql etc?

nope, as the queries can just be found in the install files, and if these are zipped or so, it's not so easy to implement a search on vb.org then ;)

That would be kind of hard to do I think. That seems like it would put a nasty load on the search engine having to open ZIPs and TXTs just to search for hacks that don't use queries. And how would you define a search like that?

using existing technology it's pointless, adding new technology, as hackers submit hacks they just click tick boxes and thus it's easier to search.

the only reason i was wondering before is because i was about to start hacking my localhost and wanted to sort out the query-less hacks first.

That could work esxcept there are hackers that wouldn't click the tick box and also if you make a hack that has queries and redo it without queries or a hack that is queryless and add things to it that require queries, would change things considerabally (I'm not sure that is spelt right. ;)). It would still be a load on the search engine no matter how it was done. ;)

yeah but it's upto the hackers to submit their hacks properly.

besides if you redo the hack to remove running independent queiries in the database via phpmyadmin, i'd hope that you added the query to remove the settings from the database ;)

I looked at the earlier and I think you have some valid requests there and some that certainly would spruce up vb.org. I'm not sure how many of them will ever become a reality here, but they should all, at least, be considered and looked into. Good job! ;)
