Simple Integrated Content for HomePage?
 

I'm looking for a simple way to integrate some of my VB content into my homepage. Basically, all I want are the titles of the last 10 messages posted with perhaps a brief clip of the message, a who's online, and total members and message count.

I've seen the packages which overtake the homepage and insert a calendar, polls, etc into the interface. Too much for my tastes. All I want is a way to integrate the above VB content into my existing page. I don't want the program to change the appearance of my homepage in any way other than any changes needed for the program to operate.

Anything like this exist?

as for the member counts and the last 10 threads, im not sure

i didn't make a thorough search, so I bet there are some hacks like that, but I dont know for sure

you could always install the Portal hacks you said but disable all the features except the ones you want, and then copy all of your coding (html, php, whatever) into the index.php that the portal uses. I haven't done this myself, but it shouldn't be too tough
