Why Vb3?!?!

I have a forum its 2.2.9 and located here http://forums.mogusland.com/index.php

Its HEAVILY hacked. I mean i have ALOT of stuff on this. How easy is it to upgrade? Is it pretty much automatic? Are there any horror stories for upgrading? Whats the benefits of upgrading... are there any vb2x hacks that simply wont work with vb3? VB3 to me seems to load alot slower than vb2.2.9 just from browsing these forums since they switched.

Are templates easier to modify? Do you still have control over almost everything?

I really need some good hard information on vb3 from people using it before i upgrade.

Thanks for any insight!

You will loose ALL hacks and no 2.x.x hacks work with vbulletin 3 because it is completely different coding. The only hacks for vbulletin 3 are the ones in the vbulletin 3 section of this site and vbulletin.nl. As far as upgrading I don't know how it will effect your database since so much has probably changed already from the hacks but the files will all be overwritten. Templates are easier to modify. Yes you have control over almost/everything.

Edit: Also I think you will have to completely redo your swanky style.

I thought you could make hacks for 2.2.x work with vb3.

If you know how to modify the code, yes, you can.

Well is it a complete rewrite? Because now im a little confused.. hacks like the Arcade hack and such seem to install fine in vb3.. did they have to work extra hard to make it work? Or do they install like normal?

vB 3 is a total re-write of the software, you will have to modify large portoins of code in most cases to get vB 2 hacks working along side vB 3. I would wait on a vB 3 version or if you have the know how write your own.

vBulletin 3 offers alot over vB 2, it is a lot easyer on the webserver and allows you to balance load with caches and alot of other options that just wernt in vB 2.
