Additional / Replacement FORUM HOME Page
First, This is not a portal
I think this is a nice addon for a portal like vbAdvanced or vbPortal. It is an intermediate page between a portal and the forums. Credit goes to BlackAce for the Latest Threads template!! Credit goes to Chroder for incorporating User Permissions!! Images attached 1) Unregistered users see the Latest threads section. 2) Registered Users see the Subscribed Forums as well, but the entire list of forums until they subscribe to at least one forum. 3) Registered Users that have subscribed to at least one forum. Instructions in the Zip file Demo: http://www.tomshawk.com/forums I hope you like it. Take care and have a good day |
Hmm its different ill give you that :) Yet it just looks like a seperate table and thats it really.
Maybe you could edit it some more, like, a mini welcome panel in the top left corner, and that box on the left has different sections, like, one part shows recent replys to threads you have subscribed too, and another for other threads that have been replied too. Maybe even show the last posters avatar next too each post or something, Improvise :) Just some suggestions otherwise Nice work ;) |

This is my first hack, and I know very little about php, It took me most of the entire month that Gamma was out to figure out how to bring the Subscribed boards out of the UserCP, not to mention setting up the conditionals for logged in users and not. :( As I get better, I'll play with this and improve it, but what you just said is so far above my head, ROFL Thanks again. |
Hey i werent trying to knock you at all ;)
Was just some suggestions, for your first try i think you done very well, so congratulations ;) Dont give up!!!! |
Good work, I'd use it if I had a bunch of forums like you do :)

If I came off that way, forgive me. I do appriciate the comments, and thank you ;) |
I think this was a great idea, but you can see here that I've implemented it a bit differently. You can use these hacks as starting points for other things if desired. :)
My implementation: http://www.mcseworld.com/forums/lastthreads.php Thanks Tomshack, Chroder and BlackAce for the starting point! |

Thats one looong page, :p Nice looking site too ;) |
It is a very long page, but for members who don't visit several times a day, its very helpful for busy sites. Now you can go and see a week (or more) worth of active threads and get caught up on things. We had this under vB 2.x using a different hack, so it was one of the more popular things to get back when the move to vB 3.x was done. :ninja:

Something new. But why for?
