XML Data Import

Maybe I have not looked hard enough but I have yet to see an XML data importing script for Vbulletin. Example: Grabbing http://slashdot.org/slashdot.xml headlines and placing them in a daily post.

This could also be used for XML data providers like Wall Street Journal, CNN and other major data providers.

Not sure the practical application for most Vbulletin boards since this would mainly be used for very topic specific boards but could open the door to Vbulletin sites to be a bit more cotnent rich capable.

So you mean the opposite of external.php of vB3? Something that will grab xml feeds from sites and puts them on your forum?

See, that's a bit tricky. It's quite easy to do, but such things are generally done via other means. There are XML grabber scripts for sites, but for putting it on a forum.. that requires forum-side caching and periodical grabbing. Lot of effort for something that's not very important (imo). Most people who use xml feeds use them in their aggregators/programs, not on their forums. :)

What kind of XML file are you referring to?

A vB3 XML style file?

In that case, navigate to AdminCp -> Styles & Templates -> Download/Upload Styles, and then select that XML file to import. Note, if it is an older version of vBulletin XML file, it might not incorporate so well on a newer vBulletin.

If you are talking about the xml feeds, then it can't be done (without hacking) as specified above.

Yes Im talking about XML feeds -> Posts
Course it requires hacking thus I posted it in the modifications area :)

He's talking about XML feeds, people, not files. Major-ass difference :)
