Back whenI ran phpbb, I had a mod that allowed you list the last 10 posts on the main web site, separate from the forums,and the last 10 threads would always be up to data there, actually you could set up the criteria for those posts could be 10 could last 5 or more, and you could select which forums it came from. It was more an add than a mod, nothing to edit or modify just add some files to the forums to make it work.

My question is if there is anything available for vbulletin that will do the same thing ??

Yes, there are plenty of hacks for you which does this, have a search around:)
