Hello people,
I find myself with a somewhat agonizing problem. I have bought vBulletin as a central solution to host forums of network sites. But since there are many network sites that want multiple forums, and I don't want an enormous mess and filesize on my forum homepage, I find myself rather clueless for a solution. I tried using the categories only, but I do think there is not enough to see then (wow, I'm too picky :) ). I was wondering if there is any way I can make "subforums" ... so you have: main forum page -> xyz site forums -> zyx forum But I want to categorize the xyz forums as well, so a seperate category is not really what I want! Boy I find myself a real whiner posting this here, but hey, you gotta try right? :) Please hit reply if you think you can help me! Have a great day (and great holidays in advance), Mike |
this is planned for 2.0
|
that would be great
|
for now you might want to do something like what i have done. see http://www.ascifi.com to have a look.
IF you want to do what i want to do then do a search for ?go in this forum to find the hack. |
JEPS
u don it i need that one!! just one question: can u make different colours?? between the forums? |
thx
but there is one prob i finaly found that hack http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...6&pagenumber=2 BUT *puh* it is rather hard to do it... its hard..... |
I did it a bit differently - but almost the same result
http://tuffsports.com/forum then look where the register/members/faq (fivelink area) stuff normally is - click one of those links like NFL - or just click this one http://tuffsports.com/forum/NFL.php3 If that is what you are looking for I can see if I can figure out how I did it again. |
jeap thats exactly what i mean!!!
but i need this when vb 2.0 is out can i contakt u later time?? when vb 2.0 is out? would be nice |
Depending on what 2.0 does will determine if I continue that - or make them subforums. (I just started them this month is why they are not very active, nothing like throwing about 200 more forums at a website that only has 333 members)
But, it was rather easy once I played around for a few hours (my php knowledge was horrible when I did this) Non technical terms - I made it so the index.php3 would only show catagories that were not shown, then I specified which catagories number to show and renamed the file, uploaded it and created the link. I would have to look in the code to see what exact code changes I made, but it was a simple change. If I remember correctly it was only like two lines of code changed. |
really??
thats rather cool would be nice have u some icq or email because i need the hack first if the new version 2.0 of vb is out i will do an clanhosting forum with many clans.. the clans should have own colours etc.. btw. are u perhaps german? |
