Hackers?

Is this true...

My friend told me that hackers can hack your vbulletin forum easily if you have the hacks running? :(

Only if you have installed hacks that have any security leaks.

Currently, there are many vBulletin 2 hacks that do have (some known, some unknown) security leaks. However, we're preparing a system for vBulletin 3 hacks that should tell you (the casual vb.org user) whether that hack is reliable to use, ie. it has no more security leaks etc.

With that system in place, you will have a far more reliable way of using / installing Hacks to your vBulletin board, without having to fear for hackers being able to hack their way in. :)

Ok thx, is there any security hack? so l could install it on my board.

Nope i dont believe so. Basically there is a discussion on this forum regarding as KuraFire said security leaks etc. The guys here are hoping to change the way Hacks are released her at vB.org when vB3 is released for good and vB3 hacks are allowed. A team of Skilled ( :p ) hackers will run through submitted hacks before they are released and will post information along with the hack about how secure it is etc.

Something like that anyway :)

Heres the thread https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...2&page=1&pp=15

No. vBulletin.org can't possibly monitor every hack (yet ;)) for vb2 and say whether they have security risks. There's no such security hack but we do have hacks which add security but in regards to having insecure hacks you install them at your own risk :)

Any hack, even, ironically, those intended to bring more security to your forums, can comprimise them. As only Jelsoft has the best understanding of their product and end users do not, an otherwise stable product is modified and possibly introduced with security holes.

If you seriously care about your forums' security, do not install third-party hacks. Usually paid hacks are better because they are done more thourougly and checked before release, as well as your own hacks because you know exactly what they do.

Good points Filburt1, Personally i have never heard of anyones board beeing hacked because of some security leek but maybe it does happen.

Personal question, Why the '1' at the end of your name Filburt?
