You can't use variables in posts.

In vB2 you could use replacements IIRC

You can use replacements in vB2 and vB3, however in later versions of vB2 the { character was changed to its entity so that the default replacements like {firstaltcolor} wouldn't be parsed ;)

hmm, i think that was done in the earlier vb2 versions, but nearly everyone disabled it again *gg*
