attachment .file files back to original format

Hi.

I have used this attachment exporter in the past for a forum that I admin...
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=34338

today, I wish to get back the separate static image and doc files of the attachments......

can anyone help?

is there any way to get back those .file files to their original format??

What do you mean, to their original format? They haven't changed formats, only from database to physical files, right?

Learner29 10-07-2003 04:41 AM

yes Gary...... is there a way I could get the files back to the database ?

there is another hack to export those files from the database to normal separate files... like .JPG and .TXT files.

have you tried undoing the stuff you done?

by that i mean following the steps backwards

well, sabret00the, if I undo the modifications, of course, NEW attachments would be in the database.......

but I need ALL the attachments...

you mean renaming the files from
d88462e0c93077989080031a852ffe19.file etc

to
d88462e0c93077989080031a852ffe19.jpg
d8fd3820db44514292b2e4ed2ba270bc.gif
yeah?

That would be really usefull, I could do with something like that!

I believe (if this is the vB2) scott designed it so that the files could not be exploited.

what it someone uploads

roothack.php

and it gets uploaded as

d88462e0c93077989080031a852ffe19.php

Now all someone has to do is figure out where the file is stored (if its stored in a web accessable folder). and bam :)
