I have a rap battle board.

Well see what I want to do is when there is a audio battle I want to host the song where they could upload it in the thread and whatever program does it in the background encodes a lofi version and then posts the links to "lofi" "hifi" and "download" I already have someone to make it work but I don't know how it is done.

so if anyone knows of some software that does this I would highly appreciate it.

Do you realise how much webspace this would take up in the long run? You'r crazy to be able to want to do this but I haven't the slightest idea on how to use PHP or even apache to stream audio files at different bandwidth rates.

well right now i have 15gb space and 150 gb bw monthly and I know it will be a long time before I use it all up but I have plans for keeping it down and just need the knowledge

Well i'd be interested to know if PHP or even Linux/Apache can do this so if anyone works it out let me know :)

you could try a shoutcast server, set up a shoutcast server on your host, then stream a shoutcast list from it, I've had some friends who have done it, it works pretty nice it loads up in winamp.

this is 21 from WW4? i like that board except for the front page and the layout. The hacks are nice.

Anyway, andromedia streams files at different bitrates just like you suggest. Maybe there is a way to modify the "attachments as files" hack to work with it.

Shouldn't be that hard for some of these php gurus on here.

So basically, members upload their mp3's as attachments in certain forums. Since they will be as "files" they can go into andromedia's directory. Then you somehow have to figure out a way to modify the attachment link in the post so that it links to the andromedia stream.
