Best portal?

Hi everybody :)

A site that i'm helping is wanting to make a homepage with VB integration. The problem is, is they don't want the whole cubes look (they wanna use a hand made layout w/o any of that).

What would be the best portal to fit my needs? I wanna be able to almost just do includes on some php files to get the info. We need a search, Member login, forum stats & a poll if possible :)

Anyone know? :)

Thanks!

~Francisco

Includes news, polls, member logins etc.

Hmm, very cool, but are they FULLY customizable? I'm not wanting the whole block look.

Thanks guys :)

Both are template based to allow you to change the look to meet your sites needs :)

http://vbportal.com is probley the best written one tho you do have to pay for it and can be really bad for queries, depending on how many blocks you have active.

Neo 08-26-2003 09:48 PM

No, vbHome & vBindex are alot better than vbportal.

SmEdD 08-26-2003 09:56 PM

I said written. vBPortal first has a sweet admin panel. Next has alot of nice features built in. Blocks can be added and removed very easiley with no template editing.

Free verson for vBPortal sucks but paid owns all execpt it's queries with alot of featurs turned on.

vBportal has always been a bit heavy, and its real hard on a database. I think you should go with vBhome or vBindex. Both are made with server load in mind, and by respected hack authors (Not saying the author of vBportal is bad or anything :) )
