Link-ID == false, connect failed

What does this mean, and why is it everywhere (as in: not restricted to a certain php file etc). There is also no error number or specification what the sql error IS

Here are some examples:

Is my database somehow broken? I'm not even sure if users get this error or if everything seems to be going fine for them.....

any pointers would be appreciated

I got this same error 17 times five minutes ago, only it gave me the error code 2002.. but there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my board.. can get on it and use it all fine LOL..... any clues as to what it means?

i even had it on the vbhome a minute ago... seems like something with the db. Could it just be the database server fading in and out or something? Maybe the server is too busy? Something like that?
