Is installing two different forum archives considered spamming by Google?

Hi Everyone...

I just finished installing vbArchive on my VB forum. In late June (about 1 1/2 months ago), I installed VB Easy Archive.

I installed vb Archive (in addition to VB Easy Archive) because it seemed that Google stopped cataloguing my pages about 3 weeks ago from the Easy Archive site, and I thought that Google was perhaps having trouble interfacing with the software.

I was wondering whether different search engines respond to different archive scripts?

I also installed another one line change in session.php file (graciously provided by filburt) that would apparently make the actual forum threads themselves be readable by Google....

Each of the forum archive scripts have different templates, but I was wondering if Google or other search engines would register these semi-repeated pages as Spamming?

I don't want to SPAM, but at the same time, I want to have as many pages catalogued as possible.

Here are links for my forum's two archive sites:

Thanks for the feedback,

Khashyar

Google apparently prefers to spider your actual forums, while Inktomi prefers the archive.

No one can answer this question, since Google developers keep their algorithm methods secret, but they do warn against submitting duplicate pages. However, since the actual threads and the archive threads do look different, I think it will not be considered spamming.

Thanks, Erwin...

I tend to agree with you

I am going to try to change the headers so that each of the two archives programs, as well as my forums, are as different as possible.

I was reading on a Webmaster forum that "duplicate" pages should be from 10% to 20% different from one another, and that if a page is seen as a duplicate within one website, then the higher ranking page will be listed and the other one not, but you probably will not be "Banned."

As you wrote, it is difficult to know Google's algorithms...

I believe that it is a plus that VB Easy Archive, Vbarchive, and the VB forum are structered in different ways.

If anyone else has feedback (or personal experience) regarding this, then I would appreciate your feedback as well..

Khashyar
