Yahoo as Referer(works with vb3)

This is my first hack I have made for vBulletin. It may be a simple one to some people, but atleast its a hack! :p

Hack name: Yahoo as Referer

version: 0.1

Author: Hostc

vBulletin versions: All

What this hack does: This hack will simpily add http://www.yahoo.com/* before any parsed URLs.

Example: if I posted a link to http://vbulletin.org this hack would make it http://www.yahoo.com/*<a href="http:...letin.org/</a> thus making yahoo as the referer to any logs :)

If you use this please click install :)

msimplay 08-09-2003 07:09 AM

whats the point of this then ?

Hostc 08-09-2003 07:48 AM

Well, you can use it so people can't link back to your site. (Since they will only see that you came from http://www.yahoo.com/

Absolutely pointless :tired:

ooooooh i seee dats excellent :D

so that means they can't link your images or anything thus saving bandwidth ?

This actually has quite a good reason to be created.

On any site that deals with coupons, or "hot deals" you don't have to worry about linking to a coupon or deal and having the company know it came from your site if I understand this correctly? On some boards, people will bypass the linking just so it has to be copied and pasted into the address field manually. Wouldn't have to do that anymore in that case I suppose?

Please respect others work, if you find it pointless then keep it to yourself, because that was rude and uncalled for.
