New Install: What Does it Mess Up?
 

OK... so I broke my board in about 25 different ways with all the hacks I rushed into installing in the beginning. Now I'm wondering if it would be a better idea just to do a complete re-install and start over rather than trying (in vain, I might add) to fix all my mistakes.

If I do a reinstall am I going to lose EVERYTHING? Smileys, avatars, etc? Is there a way to back all of that stuff up before I reinstall? I swear if I tell the person who handles smileys that she has to do them all over again I think she will hurt me.

It depends on the errors you are getting.. It may be the case that it's a simple problem to fix.

If you want to do a clean install and keep your images, smilies and avatars - upload all of the files once again EXCLUDING everything in the images directory.

If I exclude the images folder and the smilies are still there, don't I still need to add them all back into the admin tool again?

(btw, I am sure the problems would be simple to fix for someone who isn't as clueless as I am, but no matter how many times I ask, no one seems to be able to help me).
