Looking for a Free Speech host for Political Forum
 

Basically, I am looking for a hosting service that does not play the role of a net nanny. I want to open a free speech political forum (nothing illegal) to discuss philosophy, current events, politics/economics, and historical topics. I have no intention of having anything to do with pornography or anything of that nature. What I need is a host that will not shutdown my website everytime some whiner complains about something "objectionable" or something "hateful." Political discussion often gets heated especially when individuals with "extremist" and "radical" views are allowed to post and argue with one another (liberals, conservatives, leftists, nazis, existentialists, libertarians, extreme objectivists, fascists, radical environmentalists, anarchists, racists, anti-racists, insane stalinists, communists, free-market capitalists, maoists). I don't want a mediocre forum where I have to exclude everyone but the monotonous boring Demopublicans. I want something spicy! Does anyone know of any host to complement the type of board I would like to open?

If it's not illegal, then there's nothing the host can do. Just read the TOS and AUP carefully before joining.

Good luck keeping sane running a forum like that.

That's my problem. I am having a hard time finding a host that won't censor material it finds "objectionable" - places like VO and Hostrocket. I don't want to run my forum like the Inquisition so I need a host with a tolerant AUP.

But they can. They can say they don't want your custom and not renew the contract.

I'm not sure a host can do anything about what users post on your message board, can they? I mean if it isn't like porn, warez, or anything like that in the TOS... they can't do anything if one of your users posts extremist views, can they?

I wouldn't think so anyways.
