Looking for Hack to Upload Imgs from Harddrive
 

I have a forum that relies on people posting pictures of their items.

I would like to have the ability when posting a new thread or post for an option to browse the poster's hard drive, pick a jpg or gif and upload it to my site, not as an attachment, but the actual picture. (Some people either do not have web space or just don't get how to ftp a photo to it)

I have search for this type of hack but maybe I am not wording it correctly. Is one available?

This makes little to no sense to me. Lets say I posted on your forum and I have a picture of my car on my computer. You want it so that you guys can go into MY computer and see the picture from there? That the impression I'm getting but you're also using the word upload. This is just weird to me.

Why can't you just let them attach a picture?

No, I want you to be able to upload from your harddrive to my database. I don't want the picture as an attachment, I want the image right in the post.

I need this as well, Glenn, and skyline, what he is saying is he has a board that relies on pictures. He wants the member to be able to post, click an upload picture button, that image be ftp'd from the users computer to the board, where it is stored on the board or in the board's database. Then all users viewing the thread can see the image. This preventing users from having to deal with photosites, or having the imaged hosted somewhere else.

This is a standard feature, using the attachment system.

• Create message text
• Click Manage Attachments
• Browse your hard disc for files
• Upload Attachments

Actually, what the original poster wanted was to enable the display of inline images? I think that is a Control Panel option.

sorry for the confusion, I've played with the attachment feature, what I would like is if somehow someone could use it just like an img tag where text and explinations could be posted with each image.
