Too many queries?

Hi all :)

I've hacked my boards to pieces, but it seems to be loading REALLY slow... can someone check out my site and tell me if it is loading at a slow speed? I don't think it is my hosts, as they are fast for others.

Are there any threads you recommend that will help with optimising the page? I'm loading the page in one whole table which may also be causeing a problem, as it loads in one block - I don't know how to get round this though!

The page loads quicky enough for me once it has been found.

Maybe it's something to do with your host, as i maybe waited 20 seconds for the page to be found. Then it loaded quickly.

It's not that slow using my broadband.

It's not a good idea to load a whole page in 1 table, as nothing shows until everything in that table is downloaded and rendered. Better to have separate tables which load one after the other. But sometimes you can't help it like you say. :)

It could be partially your host, your main page took 30 seconds to come up on my 56k.

As for the forum, it was only like 5 seconds.

As erwin said, one table for the whole page will slow it down alot, try multiple tables or no tables with CSS.

So how many queries is too many? I'm currently looking at the performance of my board and it gets to about 19 queries in approx .5 / .6 seconds. Is 19 good, bad, or doesnt matter?

The number is not as important as what the queries are doing. 10 fast queries would be better than 8 slow ones for example.

OK.....and out of curiousity the average time of .5 is good, bad, etc? I notice my request here was .3 but with only 13 queries so it seems ok to me. I'm starting to think I have a skin problem

As long as it stay under 1 second, it will be enough for most people.
