multiples sites w/ one set of code?

are there issues with running multiples sites w/ one set of code?

i am running around 10 different forums which will be using separate databases. instead of having 10 directories with 10 separate copies of the vbulletin code, i was thinking of having all of the forum domains point to one single directory, and then having the config.php dynamically assign a tableprefix based on the url. can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work?

also, is it ok to have 10 different table sets in the db? is that too much?

You might want to read your vB license agreement real close. If you're running 10 copies of vB as 10 separate public forums, then you'd better buy 9 more licenses.

Having one legal board doesn't allow you to have as many other boards as you want. That would be piracy.

it's not 10 copies of vb, it would be just one. but anyways, yes, we *are* going to be buying 10 licenses. but would prefer to just have one set of files so that we can more easily make modifications. anyways, is it possible?

yes its possible, just point
forum.domain1.com to forum.domain.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=forumid

No need to edit global.php to assign urls.

Most Domains CP support point to point redirection services for subdomains.

-------------------
Stealth and Standard Website Redirection
With Website Redirection/Forwarding, we can send anyone trying to go to your URL (http://www.your-domain-name.com) to your "real" website, wherever it may be on the web. Simply tell us what your URL address is and we will forward any incoming requests for your domain directly to your site. This enables you to have a simple and easy to remember Web address. It also allows you to move from one ISP provider to another. Save money and get the identity you want!

IP Pointing
IP Pointing enables you to point your domain name to a specific IP (Internet Protocol) address on the Internet. An IP Address is a unique string of numbers, usually shown in groups separated by periods (e.g., 123.123.123.123), that identifies a computer connected to the Internet.

CNames
Canonical Name records (CNAMEs) act as aliases for the hostnames they are attached to. CNAMEs take on the web setting and MX record of their assigned hostname.
