My site has been with PixieHost for a couple of months now and have had nothing but the best things to say about them. We advertise them as our host simply because we think they are awesome. I'd recommend PixieHost as well.

Hey, finally someone else that's with PixieHost. :D For the prices they charge, they are by far the best host I've ever been with. I've been with quite a few (cheap hosts) that couldn't handle the load of our forums, but since I've been with PH, their servers have handled it beautifuly. Server loads have RARELY risen above 1, uptime had been at least 99.9%, and I've never had a problem that wasn't solved quickly. I just can't recommend them enough. :)

Sure you can - Get your username changed to "PixieHost 0wnz", change your location and name fields to "PixieHost 0wnZ", spam your sig with "PixieHost 0wnZ", change your avatar to say "PixieHost 0wnZ", edit any other field that you can to "PixieHost 0wnZ", and change your homepage to PixieHost;)

If only they weren't called pixiehost, kinda takes the masculinity away from it :p

Anyway, to store 5-8GB of files and then to have members download them all, you're seriously looking for a lot of bandwidth. Space can be accomodated for but the bandwidth...how many times will these manuals be downloaded every month approximately? If it's a big number, you'd have to go dedicated unless there's a host out there that gives enough premium/reliable bandwidth and has a powerful server with at least a 100mbit port...

My suggestion is to go with a $99 server from Rackshack, check out their 'bargain basement', great deals.
