Help! Large Number of Guests on my Board!
 

I tried posting this over at the VBulletin Community forum but for some reason my account is not working on that board.

Today on my board I am getting a large number of guests showing up ... much more than normal, and the number keeps growing. I am afraid it's someone trying to hack or crash my board.

Does anyone know anything about how to deal with this or can you point me in the right direction on how to remove all the guests?

All of the Guests are coming from the same IP range as well ...

Can I simply Ban this IP address and it stop any problems?

It just so happens that I saw that in my WOL a minute ago. After a Google search, it's Inktomi.

So, excuse my ignorance, but what does that mean or what should I do to fix this --- or better yet should I be concerned? I see that they are some sort of search engine, are they just trying to index my forum or something?

You shouldn't be concerned - they are harmless. It's best to keep them unless you dont want your forums to appear in a search engine.

They were on my board for about 3 days.

Yup. The spiders have been busy recently. Pushed my server loads up too. :) Hopefully, it's the new vB3 archive that's working...
