Avatar question again
 
My apologies, I know this has been asked a hundred times, and I've spent nearly an hour trying to find the answer before posting this question.
I'm running vbulletin v2.3.0 and I want to be able to enable custom avatars and "can enter a URL of your avatar" option just like there is here in the user cp of vbulletin.org. I do not want people uploading images onto our server.
I saw some hacks but they didn't indicate if they would work with 2.3.0. If someone could point me to the right place I would greatly appreciate it.

I tried a couple of the hacks I found here. One simply added an option in the user cp for avatars but did not allow url images.
Another I found trashed my forum. I had to restore from backup.
I really could use some help here gang. I'd appreciate some feedback.
