E Mail Notification
Hi all
I have a problem regarding the E mail system on our Board, our Members are not recieving an E mail Notification on a posting Or Private message, Could anyone please advise as to where to start looking to solve the problem? It has worked fine for Months, and appears to have Broken down today. Thanks for your time Steve |
Nothing just "breaks", so:
1. Remove any hacks you've installed recently 2. Ask your host if any mail settings changed 3. Try uploading mailtest.php from the extras folder of the vB download and running it |
Hi,
The 'techy' here :) 1. It only stopped working a few days ago and we haven't installed any hacks for a few weeks. 2. The server was upgraded to CPanel 7.0 but he downgraded it again soon after due to compatability problems. It was also upgraded to PHP 4.3.2 in the last 1 - 1.5 weeks 3. Done - no errors were echoed but I didn't recieve any emails either :( Any other ideas? :D lol Ollie |
Oh, and running vB 2.2.9
|
If you didn't change vB, then some other change broke it. Judging by what was posted, I'm guessing it was either the PHP change or the CPanel change.
|
Could an upgrade to vB 2.3.0 fix that?
|
Upgraded to 2.3.0 - didn't help :(
I'm presuming vB uses sendmail - but where in vB is the path to sendmail configured? Ollie |
The path to sendmail is configured in the apache httpd.conf file (the apache config file). So your host should have already configured the proper path for sendmail to work.
