Cool Point System

I have this kool idea for a point system. This is a point system that I bleieve would help my board out tremendously from separating members due to there status. Ok this is how I dream it should work hehe:

;)

Ok now when you make a NEW THREAD in certain forums specified you will get a certain amount of points. For everyone that replies to that certain new thread in that specified forum you get an additional amount of points.

Now this is the tricky thing though.

Now the person that is making the NEW THREAD can specify how many points he wants the people to have in order to have permsissions to reply to his thread he created.

So lets say the creator of a NEW THREAD has 30 points. He has to fill out the field HOW MANY POINTS DOES THE REPLYER NEED IN ORDER TO REPLY?

Now the user would type the number of points he wants the repliers to have in order to reply. The thing is he cannot type a number any higher than what he has already or he will get an error page on submit. So for now he cannot put a number over 30.

Now say he specifies a number as 20 and hits submit. That means everyone that wants to reply has to have at least 20 points. If not then they are brought to an error screen.

I know lesanes store hack has someonewhat of these features but no the full monty. It seems pretty simple. But I don't know how to code for BLEEEEEEEEEEP.

I hope someone out there would have fun coding something like this. I think this would be an awesome hack. I would do anything for this hack. A 10 dollar paypal donation would be given out to anyone that could do this.

I hope someone can help. Pplus the users points will show in there postbit and profile and whatever as well.

I hope to here from someone soon. Thank you.

interesting, but that i believe might have a security fall in witch your board can be hacked since it grants an admin option to a regular user, but i may be wrong, this would be a great addon i would prolly install this on my board

I don't think so. Think of the STORE hack. How that allows u to change other peoples usertitles and avatars and stuff.

I hope someone can help out with the creation of this hack.

I will give a $10 donation over paypal if interested.

And should the amount of points be decreased of your total amount if you replied?

And on wich 'point' system is it based? Store Hack or Shira points hack or..?

BigJohnson 06-26-2003 12:18 AM

I am not sure sure which existing hack this would sorta be like but for the other question the decrease is no.

An area in the admin panel under USER where the points can be changed would be kool.

I hope one of you guys can help me out on this one.

Well, what you are trying to reach with those points? I mean, they need atleast 20 points to reply on that thread. Where do they earn/get those 20 points? What can they do with those points? etc.

BigJohnson 06-26-2003 11:39 AM

its in the first post.

The only thing u do with the points is have access to reply.

Say Member 1 has 20 points and Member 2 has 10 points
Now the only way to earn points is by making a new thread in a certain forum. You will get as many points as it is set to in the admin panel.

Say a new thread is 5 points. Now you have 5 points because u posted a new thread in a certain forum id that the point system is turned ON in.

Now for every person that replies to ur new thread you get an extra amount of points, also able to be changed in the admin cp.

Thats all the points are good for.

Member 1 is creating a new thread in a certain forum where the points are turned on. In the NEw Thread screen there is a box to fill out asking HOW MANY POINTS IS NEEDED FOR THE USER TO REPLY?

Remember Member 1 has 20 points. He cannot pout a number any higher than the amount of points in that box. If he does he will be brought to an error screen on submit.

So say he puts 10 points in that box. Now that means for everyone person that replies they need to have at least 10 points. So Member 2 will be able to reply. If member 1 set the amount to 11 points then Member 2 would not be able to reply.

This is all the points are good for. ;)

Also one important thing. Say I created a new thread where the points are turned on. Sa Member 2 replies and i get additional points. If he replies again no points are gievn to the thread starter. It only works for the first reply by that user.

Plus for the thread starter to reply to there own threads will not give them points neither.

So there are 2 error screens. One if u want to reply and don't have enough points and the other is on the submit of a thread and you put in a number higher than the amount u already have.

I hope you didn't forget about this thread lesane. I hope u can help me out.

Lesane 06-27-2003 02:46 PM

hehe no i didn't :)

Do you have the store hack installed? And wich version of vb are you using?

BigJohnson 06-28-2003 11:17 AM

Nope no store is installed.

I was going to probably do that but there are to many features for the store that I wouldn't be using and it would be a waste of space on my server. So I just thought of maybe a simplistic way of just creating this one hack.

Also I am using 2.2.9.
