some little problems

Hi guys, first of all let me compliment with you all for your great work!
I'm a newbe of this community, I hope to enjoy it and, thanks to your help,
manage to solve some little problems.

At the moment I don't understand two things mainly:

1) why near some nickname does appear a strange asterix??
2) where can I find on my FTP files attached by members in
their posts

Thanks for your attention. Have a good time!
Bye!

1) that means that member is browsing as invisible, just you as an admin can see he's online

2) they're stored within the databaste attachmenttable.
if you want them as files, there is a hack here, somewhere ;)

Hi, thanks for your istant answer. I still have a couple of question if u
don't mind.

1) how a member can be invisible? I realized that always same members are
invisible (with asterix), so there is a member's option to choose to be or
not to be (this is the questionJ) invisible?
2) about attached files, I'm just worried about their size.you know in
future they could be oversize my space (bought from my provider), so I just
wonder if there is an option to delete them (the oldest ones),if there
is.where is? I don't manage to find it!!
really thanks again!
bye

1. Yes.
2. You can set the maxium size of attachment uploads, so you can keep each file small.

1) where can i find this option?
2) how can i remove some old attachment?

Chris M 06-25-2003 08:06 PM

1.) User Control Panel > Edit Options > Login, Cookies & Privacy > Invisible Mode
2.) There are some hacks to browse and remove attachments here on vB.org:)

ok, but, there isn't any way to delete this files without use hack?

Chris M 06-26-2003 03:55 PM

Yes, but that will require you to browse the database with a program called "PhpMyAdmin" - Most servers have this installed by default;):)
