portal/home(news) for vb3?
 

Just wondering if there are any home scripts available for vb3 yet?

I'm currently using vbportal but I don't think they're going to be releasing something until final release. I'm not so sure I even need vbportal because I haven't really been too happy with it. I just need a basic menu system (can be based on links) and something to interpret the news forum and display them on the homepage.

Anyone know if something like this is avail or in the works?

@nferreri - There won't be any scripts available until vB3 at least hits RC...:)

I understand that's the official policy on hacks but does that honestly mean everyone is going to wait until RC to do any hacks?

Or is it "forbidden" to discuss that here? :)

I know of several people making hacks for vB3 already, but if they wish to waste their time making them, then that is their time to waste - By the time vB3 reaches it's first RC, some of the hacks they have wasted their time on may not even work with the RC version...

Considering they havn't even implemented the new style on it other the the mod and admin cp most will go to waste.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I was wondering if there was just a basic script to generate a homepage that pulled the news from a specific forum. I know in YaBBSE they had a news script that allowed you to make a simple news "template" that could be used for a homepage. Basically, just a script that queries the database and pulled out the thread .. formatted it .. and stuck it in a the template.. very simple..

is there anything like that built into vB or something someone has made?

I have one..... No hacks just an add in ..... 1 php file and 3 templates.

Im working on one also, its not realy a portal or a CMS, its somehwere in between. But It wont be released (if I do decide to) until at least a stable RC is out.

It's one of the easiest hacks for anyone to do themself. I slapped one together in a matter of less than an hour. It ain't great, but it does what I need it to do.

All you need to do is run the query to get the threads you are interested in, and then you can either create a custom template or you can display the results just like any other php page.
