NerdNations.com - Need Opinions

Hey guys and girls, i just re-opened www.nerdnations.com

What do you think? Any suggestions / reviews on what you think should be changed? What about unique ways to keep people visiting?

We also have a BBS, www.nerdnations.com/bbs - What do you think?

I am all ears open :D

Pretty standard, nothing notable.

What would make it stand out?

It's pretty much default looking, try using some template mods from http://www.vbulletintemplates.com

Give it up and do some real promoting. You post here every couple months and at vbulletin.com to get a few people to check out your sites. You get some extra hits and that's about it. You post with the pretense that you've done extensive work to the site yet when you go there nothing has changed.
If you want your site to gain in popularity get it listed in the directories, ie: dmoz and yahoo. Submit it to the search engines.
Also add some content that is unique to your site. If you want to run a tech site you better have more content than the competition.
Right now your site wouldn't make it as a resource for techies. You don't offer anything to keep people coming back.
Maybe a little harsh, but, none the less true.

Yes, very default looking.

Personally, the vB buttons in the header stood out for me; they didn't look right. I think they need to be a little lighter, and try not to use a grayscale theme, looks very boring and plain like that.

Didn't find the site that appealing, if you want PM me about some tips, I work with a webdesign firm locally, and do alot of consulting, I can offer some advice. AWS has provided some very good advice, but your site has potential to become popular. The name is unique, your idea is heading in the right direction, but you need that extra push on your wagon, so it can start ripping through the wind.
